Sole Proprietors

For Individuals who are not eligible for Subsidy (APTC Advance Premium Tax Credits)

Individuals without access to an Employer Sponsored Health Plan and with Incomes higher than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level there are unfortunately very few options available. Recent changes in Virginia Law now allow Self Employed Individuals to obtain coverage on the Group Markets which often times provides better coverage at less cost than the Individual Markets. In order to qualify for coverage in the Group Markets the Individual must be Self-Employed, 1099, Single Member Corporation, Single Shareholder Corporation or a member of a Partnership. In order to qualify for coverage in the group market Individuals must provide a Schedule C or Schedule F from their prior year’s tax return in order to prove self employment.
